Shareholders in Entity Management

Shareholdings record who holds shares in a Corporate Entity, in what quantity, and of what type. Both individuals and companies can be shareholders, including companies that are not part of your corporate family.

Adding a shareholder

  1. Open the Corporate Entity record and select + Add in the Shareholders panel.

  2. In Search for an entity or person, search for the shareholder. Both individuals and companies are supported and both must already exist in Entity Management.

  3. Enter the Number of Shares (required).

  4. Select the Share Type: Ordinary shares or Preference shares.

  5. The Calculated shareholder percentage updates automatically.

  6. Select Add Shareholder.

How the percentage is calculated

The percentage reflects the shareholder's proportion of all shares across all share types combined. All percentages recalculate automatically as shareholders are added or updated.

Editing a shareholding

Select a shareholder tile to open the Edit Shareholding modal. Update shares or share type, then select Update. Select Delete to remove the shareholding.

Viewing all shareholders

The Shareholders panel shows the three most recently added shareholders and a total count. Select View all to open a full table with all shareholders, their share amounts, percentages, and types. New shareholders can also be added from this table.

Note: An external company that holds shares but is not part of your corporate family should be created as a Party rather than a Corporate Entity. This ensures the shareholding is recorded accurately without the company appearing in your corporate hierarchy. See Entities and Parties in Entity Management.
