Outlook add-in update
Microsoft has made some updates to their API. As a result, we’ve released a new Outlook add-in and recommend that all Xakia users who use the Outlook integration upgrade to the new version.

What's changing and why?
Microsoft has recently made some updates to their integration services and will discontinue some of the services Xakia’s old Outlook add-in used on 30 November 2022. This means that Xakia’s old Outlook add-in will no longer be able to save emails and documents to Xakia’s native Document Management System (DMS) or SharePoint after 30 November 2022.
What happens if I don’t update the Outlook add-in?
If you currently use Xakia’s old Outlook add-in to save emails and documents to Xakia's DMS or SharePoint, you need to upgrade to the new version in order to continue doing so after 30 November 2022.
If you don’t use that functionality, Xakia’s old Outlook add-in will continue to work for creating and updating matters. In this case, we still recommend that you upgrade to the new add-in at your earliest convenience.
How do I update to the new version?
You may see a notification appear in the old version, so it’s easy to know which version you’re using and whether installing the new version is necessary. You may see the notification below if you’re using the old version of the Xakia Outlook add-in:
If you are already using the latest version, you will not see the banner above and you do not need to take any further action.
Upgrading to the new add-in consists of two parts - remove the old version and then re-install the new version. Follow the steps below to get started.
1. Un-install the Xakia Outlook add-in
In Outlook, click 'Get Add-ins' from the 'Home' tab on the ribbon. You can also select File > Manage Add-ins, which will take you to Outlook on the web. It will open the Add-Ins for Outlook dialog there.
From the Add-Ins dialog, Click on 'My add-ins' from the left hand side.
Click on the 3 vertical dots on the bottom right hand corner of the Xakia add-in and choose ‘Remove’ from the drop-down.
2. Re-install the add-in
In Outlook, click 'Get Add-ins' from the 'Home' tab on the ribbon.
From the Add-Ins dialog, search for Xakia and select it from the search dropdown. Click on the ‘Add’ button and follow the directions to install the add-in.
Once the add-in is installed, we recommend restarting Outlook.
When you first open the add-in, you may be prompted to log in. Click the 'Sign in' button and log in with your usual Xakia account details.
If saving an email or a document to the DMS, a one-time permission request to allow the sync between Outlook and Xakia will need be provided.
