Brightflag Configuration

Set up your Brightflag integration in Xakia!

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Important: Please email us at support@xakiatech.com to activate your Brightflag integration.

Once your integration is activated, you'll need to make sure that key data in Xakia matches exactly with the corresponding data in Brightflag. Here's how to do it:

External Resources

In Xakia, “External Resources” represent your external firms. These must be matched with Brightflag “Vendors” using a unique Vendor Ref.

How to set it up:

  • Go to Admin > External Resources in Xakia

  • You’ll see a new column labeled Brightflag Vendor Ref

  • Click to edit each external firm and enter the Vendor Ref value from Brightflag

  • Repeat this for each firm you work with that uses Brightflag

Brightflag Custom Fields

The Xakia Brightflag integration requires three custom fields to be present in Brightflag:

  • Fee Type

  • Subdivision

  • Subcategory

📌 Note that if these custom fields are not present, or if their names do not match exactly what is shown here, matters will not link to Brightflag.

Divisions

The name of each 'Division' must match exactly with a 'Department' in Brightflag.

Check for exact name match, including:

  • Capitalization

  • Hyphens or special characters

  • No extra spaces at the beginning or end

Categories

The name of each 'Category' must match exactly with a 'Category' in Brightflag. Check for exact name match, including:

  • Capitalization

  • Hyphens or special characters

  • No extra spaces at the beginning or end

Entities

'Entities' in Xakia must match up with 'Entities' in Brightflag. The 'Company Identifier' field of an entity in Xakia must match exactly with an 'Entity' name in Brightflag.

Optional! You can set a default entity that all matters in Xakia will fall back to, if no entity is specified on the matter.

Confidential Matters

For matters marked as confidential in Xakia, you can choose to redact matter names in Brightflag.
This helps ensure that sensitive legal information isn’t visible to unauthorized Brightflag users (especially if Brightflag is linked to finance systems like Accounts Payable).
