The Xakia MCP Connector lets you ask Claude about your matters, contracts, key dates, documents and Playbooks, and get answers drawn from your own Xakia data. You don't have to search, copy or export anything first.
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol, an open standard that lets AI applications connect securely to other systems.
How it works
When you ask your AI application a question, it decides which Xakia information it needs and requests it through the connector. We check your permissions, pull the information from the region that holds your data, and send it straight to your AI application.
You only see what you can already see in Xakia, under the same access rules as the web application.
The connector works in one location at a time. If you belong to more than one, you choose which to use.
You sign in with your usual Xakia credentials, including Single Sign-On (SSO) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) where your organization uses them.
Note: The connector is read-only. You can ask Claude to find and compare your Xakia information, or summarize it, but any changes, like creating a matter or completing a key date, need to be made in Xakia itself.
Before you connect
Your location is on the Xakia All-In plan.
An Administrator has switched on MCP Enabled for your location. It's off by default for every location.
You have permission to connect. When turning the connector on, your Administrator chooses whether all users or only Location Administrators can connect.
You're using Claude Desktop, where the Xakia connector is available from the Connectors Directory. Claude Code isn't supported at the moment, and your organization's use of Claude is covered by your own agreement with Anthropic.
You have an active Xakia account. If you're removed from a location or your account is deactivated, your access through the connector ends too.
Turn on the connector for a location (Administrators)
Users can't connect until an Administrator switches the connector on.
Go to Admin > AI Settings > MCP.
Switch on MCP Enabled.
Choose who can connect. Select All users or Location Administrators only.
Click Save.
You can switch the connector off, or limit it to Administrators, at any time. Changes reach new requests within about a minute.
Privacy and data handling
The connector has its own privacy notice, which covers what it can access, where your data goes, what we record and how sign-in works.
Read the Xakia MCP Connector privacy notice.
In summary:
We don't keep a copy of the information we send to your AI application. Once it's delivered, your agreement with the AI provider covers how it's handled.
We keep an audit record of each request: who made it, through which AI application, which location, and the IDs of the records returned. We don't record the text of your searches or the content of records. Audit records are kept for up to 12 months.
Your organization can ask us which users accessed which records through the connector, and when, within that 12-month period.
Note: The AI provider you connect is chosen and engaged by your organization. It isn't a Xakia sub-processor in this role.
