Add the Xakia MCP Connector to ChatGPT

Once the connector is added, you can ask ChatGPT about your matters, contracts, key dates, documents and Playbooks, and get answers from your own Xakia data.

Before you start

  • Your location is on the Xakia All-In plan.

  • An Administrator has switched on AI Enabled and MCP Enabled in Admin › AI Settings, and you’re included in Who can access MCP. Read Turn On the Xakia MCP Connector in AI Settings.

  • You have an active Xakia account in that location.

  • Your organization uses ChatGPT Business, Enterprise or Edu, and you’re using ChatGPT on the web. Custom MCP servers can’t be added on mobile.

  • You’re allowed to add custom MCP servers. On Business, only admins and owners can. On Enterprise and Edu, admins and owners can, and they can give other members permission.

Find your region's connector URL

We run a separate connector for each data region. Use the one for the region where your organization’s Xakia data is hosted. If you’re not sure which that is, ask your Xakia Administrator or Customer Success Manager.

Each connector works with one region. If your organization has Xakia locations in more than one region, add a connector for each one and name each by region, for example Xakia (United States).

Add the connector

  1. Open Plugins. In ChatGPT on the web, go to Plugins.

  2. Add a server. Select +, then Add custom MCP server.

  3. Enter the details. Type a name, such as Xakia (United States), and add a description if you like. Under Connection, paste your region’s connector URL.

  4. Choose authentication. Select OAuth. ChatGPT finds our sign-in settings and registers itself, so you don’t need a client ID or secret.

  5. Confirm. Tick I understand and want to continue, then select Create as a plugin.

  6. Sign in. Sign in to Xakia when asked, then review the tools ChatGPT found.

Sign in and allow access

Everyone connects with their own Xakia account, even when someone else added the connector for them.

  1. Sign in. Use your usual Xakia credentials, including Single Sign-On (SSO) or Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) if your organization uses them.

  2. Check the consent screen. Make sure you’re signed in as the right user. Leave Grant offline agent access ticked if you want to stay connected between sessions or use scheduled tasks.

  3. Allow access. Click Yes, Allow.

ChatGPT usually shows the consent screen only the first time you connect. Read Offline Access in the Xakia MCP Connector to see how offline access works.

Share it with your workspace (admins and owners)

Only admins and owners can publish the connector for everyone else in the workspace.

  1. Open the Admin Console. Select your workspace, then open Plugins.

  2. Go to legacy apps. Select Manage Legacy Apps.

  3. Publish. Select Drafts › Publish.

On Enterprise and Edu, you can choose which groups get access. Each person still signs in with their own Xakia account.

Use Xakia in a chat

Start a new chat, type @, select Xakia, then ask your question. For example: “Which of my open matters have key dates due in the next two weeks?”

ChatGPT keeps a copy of the connector’s tool list from when it was published. When we add or change tools, a workspace admin needs to refresh the connector’s actions in workspace settings.

What you’ll see

The connector shows as connected in your ChatGPT Plugins list under the name you gave it. You only see information you can already see in Xakia, and the connector is read-only, so it can’t create, change or delete anything.

Read the Xakia MCP Connector privacy notice to see how your data is handled.
