Tool permissions control when Claude can use the Xakia connector's tools, such as Get Matter or List Contracts. Your Claude organization's Owner can also set them for everyone, so some options may be locked for you.
Each Xakia tool has 1 of 3 permission settings:
Setting | What happens |
Always allow | Claude uses the tool whenever it needs to, without asking you. |
Needs approval | Claude asks for your permission each time it wants to use the tool. |
Blocked | Claude can't use the tool at all. |
All Xakia tools are read-only, so none of them can create, change or delete anything in Xakia, whichever setting you choose.
Open tool permissions
Open Connectors. In Claude Desktop, go to Profile › Settings › Connectors.
Select Xakia. Select your Xakia connector, for example Xakia MCP - USA.
Expand the tools. Under Tool permissions, expand Read-only tools to see all 14 Xakia tools.
Choose a permission for each tool
For each tool, click the icon for the setting you want:
Tick: Always allow
Hand: Needs approval
Circle with a line: Blocked
To change all Xakia tools at once, use the drop-down next to Read-only tools (for example, Needs approval).
Respond to approval requests in a conversation
When a tool is set to Needs approval, Claude pauses and asks before using it. You'll see a prompt such as "Claude wants to use List Locations from Xakia MCP - Australia" with these options:
Allow once: Claude uses the tool this time only and asks again next time.
Always allow: Claude uses the tool this time and won't ask again. The tool's setting changes to Always allow.
Deny: Claude doesn't use the tool and continues without that information.
When Always allow isn't available
If your Claude organization's Owner has set the Xakia tools to Needs approval, the Always allow option is locked. In Tool permissions, you'll see a padlock icon next to each tool and only the Needs approval and Blocked options. Hovering over a padlock shows: "Your admin requires approval for this tool. You can still block it."
Claude asks for your approval every time it uses a Xakia tool, and you can't switch a tool to Always allow yourself. If you'd like that option:
Contact your Owner. Reach out to your Claude organization Owner, the person who manages your Claude Team or Enterprise account.
Ask for the change. Ask them to update the Xakia connector's tool permissions in Organization settings › Connectors so users can choose Always allow.
Check your settings. Once they've made the change, go back to Profile › Settings › Connectors and select your Xakia connector. The padlocks are gone and all 3 options are available.
Set your tools. Set the tools you want to Always allow, or choose Always allow the next time Claude asks.
Note: Claude tool permissions are managed by your Claude organization Owner, not in Xakia. They are separate from the MCP Enabled setting your Xakia Administrator controls, which decides whether the connector can be used for a location at all.
